In order to complete New Mexico driver’s license renewal, you need to have the following documentation with you when you visit an MVD Now location:
- One (1) proof of identity| View list of acceptable documents

IMPORTANT NM DRIVER’S LICENSE (REAL ID COMPLIANT) INFORMATION REGARDING NAME CHANGES
If you have recently changed your name, please review the following important information:
- If your proof of identity document such as a passport, birth certificate, social security card, etc. does not contain your current full legal name, you must present different official documents that fully reflect any name change(s) you’ve had. These official documents can be a court order, marriage certificate, divorce decree, adoption records, etc.
- If you have a case of multiple name changes, you will need to present official documents for each name change. All divorce decrees must reference the maiden name or former name before marriage.
- If your passport or identity document contains your CURRENT legal name, you do not need to provide proof of a name change.
